Vintage Clothing Needed, Stat!

I need to find good thrift stores (or just not expensive stores) in Atlanta that sell late fifties to early sixties clothing (vintage or restyled, as long as the restyling isn't too weird).

We are also planning to hit Athens, Georgia looking for the same stuff, so anything there will be helpful as well. This is for a play, so we will need men's and women's clothing in a variety of sizes. Some of the scenes are suit-worthy (for the girls, the Jackie Kennedy look) and the rest of it is fairly "weekend at Hyannisport." We sort of want to avoid sewing but will do it if we really have to, so anywhere (local or good price online) that sells vintage patterns isn't totally out of the question. I know about ebay and rustyzipper.com (I've been googling), but in this realm I'm really looking for reccomendations as to any pattern provider you've used that has delivered, both in the sense of quality and timeliness.

Little Five Points in Atlanta has almost innumerable vintage clothing shops. you could definitely find what you're looking for there.

Ahhh, Athens, the jewel of Georgia, with more vintage stores than you can shake a stick at...

Uncle Alberts is always a great place (Michael Stipe from REM likes that place, if I remember correctly)

Uncle Albert's
143 North Jackson Street, Athens, GA 30601
(706) 543-9197

My wifey bought a beautiful vintage red dress right around the corner from there on Broad Street-- cramping on the name, but it is underneath Espresso Royale Cafe... I am 98% it is this one:

Dynamite Clothing
297 East Broad Street, Athens, GA 30601
(706) 543-1243

Also, a list of ALL other clothing stores in Athens, not just vintage is HERE

One other store--

Junkman's Daughter's Brother
458 East Clayton Street, Athens, GA 30601
(706) 543-4454

The original Junkman's Daughter is in the Little 5 Points that mcsweetie mentioned above, it is also a huge store with some vintage clothing.

Clothing Warehouse in L5P almost always has two for one dress deals in the appropriate time period you listed. They usually have a good selection of sizes. Of course, vintage wear fits differently, so buy a couple sizes up. Look for holes and rips, sometimes they will give you a discount.

I have found a lot of their dresses are for busty ladies with small (in comparison) waists. So some appropriate undergarments might be in order to make them fit an athelitic body type. I don't think their guys selection is that good.
