online football fandom?

Has anyone on AskMe joined joga.com? Football (Soccer) Fans: Is a social networking site centered on football (and brought to us by corporations) worth the effort to locate an invite?

If so, does anyone have an invite to spare? If not, are there better (ie. more interesting than "My team's great! Your team sucks!) places to get online football action?

I have an account on joga.com, although I haven't spent much time there past the initial visit. I'm not sure how many invites I have, but I'd be happy to hand a few out.

I registered a couple of weeks ago but haven't gotten an email yet. They said it might take a while.

Ad Age magazine was saying Nike was trying to build buzz by making the site unaccessible without an invite. I don't know if they're accomplishing that but the second ad with young & old Ronaldinho is pretty cool.

If anyone wants to shoot me an invite feel free.

(Pretty please.)

If it's from Nike, then you can bet it's primarily a marketing site with a social networking component. I'm not saying that's good, bad, or indifferent, I'm just putting it out there; after all, Nike isn't in the business of creating social networks. I'd be nervous about getting a perpetual flood of Nike-related emails if I registered at joga.

Am I the only one who noticed the irony of Eric Cantona - he of the studs-up karate kick to a fan's chest - as Nike's chosen ambassador for restoring beauty to the game of football?

I would second Footymad.

As ironic as Cantona talking about honor while Wayne "will dive for pies" Rooney is in the background. But I'm not bitter.

As of right now, you can log into joga.com with a Google account of any kind.

I registered some weeks back, but have not been able to access it for a lack of an "invite". Anyone with any? I'd gladly appreciate one, if just to check it out...
