It’s a beautiful … holiday card

Do you have any exquisite holiday card (or shop or maker) recommendations?

Last year I spoiled myself with this practically perfect card. I like that it is elegant and experiential - a pinch of holiday magic in an envelope. Others in the same shop don’t hit the same note for me although all the cards are otherwise lovely. The pop up element is fun but not the only way for a card to also be a great experience. I’ve struck out at the MOMA card shop, lovepop, paper source, and rifle paper (although their advent tree is close.) Maybe you know of other beautiful cards off the beaten path? Anywhere in the world is fine as long as they ship internationally.

Best answer: I did a search on Etsy for "fancy holiday cards" and found a couple you might like. Funtasticpapercrafts has this pretty carriage scene. They have several 3D cards, might be worth a look around.

For a completely different, simplified look I like these snowflakes from NirvanaCards.

Some lovely options here: https://www.blackbirdletterpress.com/holiday
Found googling “letterpress holiday cards”, because I assumed some letterpress printmakers might have some similarly luxurious options.

I've bought lots of cards from Cotswold Trading. They have lots of cards of wildlife and the English countryside which are really beautiful. They also have Advent Calendar cards, which (obvs) the recipient should have by 1 December so they can open a door each day. They ship internationally.

Do any of these options from The Met appeal to you?

Paperchase has some nice looking options.

Maybe one of this seller's pop-up ones? You could have a look at the Museum Selection ones too, though they are less unusual - maybe the sixpence ones would work?

Artists To Watch is one of my go-tos. Agreeing with carolr that The Met usually has some nice ones.

I typically buy from the Met Store but Unicef has some nice ones also.

Although you mentioned pop-ups aren't the only way to achieve this, but this store has some fun pop-up options: https://mypapercutforest.co.uk/shop/29890628/christmas-cards-decor

Response by poster: Thanks to all for the suggestions! I didn’t find “the one” this year but shout out to Hallmark Japan Holiday cards to getting the closest.

Honorable mentions:

For fun and games

For going completely overboard
