In iTunes, how do I get various album artists to list separately?

This is the most complicated thing I have ever asked Metafilter! Please see below for my attempt at a question!

I have several albums in iTunes by the artist Ricky Skaggs and several by Tony Rice. When I click on the Artist field in iTunes, under Ricky Skaggs I see his albums and under Tony Rice I see his albums. So here is the hard part: Currently the album called Skaggs & Rice shows up only under the Ricky Skaggs selection in Artist. Going to the Tony Rice selection the Skaggs & Rice album does not show up. Shouldn't it? When I look under Artist for Tony Rice I expect to see the Skaggs & Rice Album listed. I am used to editing the Song Info and Album Info boxes in iTunes so how can I correct this egregious error?

Response by poster: Under artist - Ricky Skaggs, Tony Rice.

What happens if you change the Album Artist field to be Tony Rice, Ricky Skaggs? (switch the order, use a comma instead of 'and').

Best answer: I gather that you want the album to appear in both artists' libraries and not under a new conglomerate name. iTunes (sorry, Apple Music) is not, at present, set up to accept multiple Artist tags as they may appear on streaming and digital services. Setting the Album Artist will determine where it shows up in your catalogue, even if the Artist is set differently ... but making them different will ultimately still end up only in one place and be twice as confusing.
