Black circular stripe hi-hat cymbal?

In a music video, I saw a hi-hat cymbal with a black circular stripe around the middle of the top. I feel like I’ve seen this before. Google yields no results. Anyone?
If this helps, it was the video for The Way You Love Me by The Moffatts. It only shows the hi-hat briefly.

It’s a partially unlathed cymbal. Here’s an example: 14" Crescent Eon Hi-Hat 2012 (Pre-Sabian)

A couple of places online suggest that he plays Istanbul cymbals, which would probably make them these Sultans.

Coming back to say, if you want to know what the lathing does to the sound of a cymbal, here's a basic overview, and here's a drum forum with people getting way down in the weeds about this kind of partial lathing. Basically, unlathed cymbals have a much drier sound.
