Internet interview audio recording

What's the go-to free software for this ?

I need to record an internet phone conversation over discord (or another program) Podcastable quality. I do have virtual audio cable and I haven't really used it but I think I could get it to work without too much problem. If the recording software has trouble and needs it. I can't spend too long looking at the perfectest workflow for this because a scoop kind of fell in my lap and I need to go for it. Thanks!

Response by poster: I've got my microphone/recording gizmo, virtual audio cable, audacity, and discord.

Zencastr is very popular. If I need to record the audio off another program, I use OBS to record my desktop and mic. OBS took me a few hours to figure out but was pretty easy on windows. There are plugins for discord if you control the server.

OBS, linked to by a robot made out of meat, is the go-to for most people but definitely takes a little time to get used to so I'd recommend doing a dry-run with a friend ahead of time.
