Amazing unnamed whippet is called?
December 14, 2020 3:29 PM

There are photos within but will there also be her True Name?

Yes hello hello hello we are collecting & connecting with this tiny genius very soon, and we're searching to discover for her name. She's perhaps the smallest of the litter, and has been given the tag 'Mouse' as a temporary tool, but it seems unlikely to be correct.

Details: she has teeth, legs + paws, a tail, a nose, some amount of ears, the usual organs we presume. The top of her head has a Wu-Tang W brindle marking that covers her left eye. She has also 3 cow-like splotches on her side.

We think: Norwegian words or names are welcome but are by no means necessary. She's female but has no gender obvs, so non-gender-specific/conforming human names are just as likely to be correct as their counterparts.

We love your suggestions already! THANKS

Stella Stelllllaaaahhhhh
(It’s apparently good to have a sibilant in a dog’s name - and with a whippet you’re gonna be doing a lot of calling her name when you try to instil the recall concept)

She needs a delicate, frilly name. Melanie. Melisande. Juliette. Annabelle. Marguerite. Carolyn.

Okay, the benefit of “Maude” is that when you call her to go outside, you can say, ”Come into the garden, Maude.”

Sighthounds like whippets are sprinters, so I'd be looking at names of female sprinters: Florence is an obvious choice, but I'd go with Wilma, I think.

Sometimes dogs don't let you know what their name is until they've been with you for a while. Our greyhound/saluki mix came to us from Dubai with the name Zohra, and we lived with that for a week until we deduced that her name was Birdie, because she doesn't walk anywhere if she can fly instead.

Name: Disa.
Pronouns: they/them.

Since (as you mention) we can't know your dogs gender (if any), I recommend they/them pronouns. Bonus: you (and others in your dog's life) get practice with (and exposure to) they/them pronouns.

There is LOTS to treasure here already, I love how directly you're all able to see names from faces. Thank you all for your contributions so far!

(I'm sorry for inadvertently sharing a potentially distracting NSFD "erotic" image; what prudes these algorithms be).

@QuakerMel – Birdie is a wunderhound, such a nose, such ears!

We'll try all of these out when they arrive, and I'll try to update you all here or over at metatalk if the thread closes before their name is found yes yes.
