Best Reliable Double A Triple A Battery Charger

I bought a battery charger which is an up grade from what I had for several years. The one I bought recently was an energizer- Double A , Triple A. Has bells and whistles where it has auto shut off, which works good. Problem it is detecting newer cells, that I had already- which need recharging- as bad cells. Alarm goes off, then I am supposed to get rid of them. Then it did it

on new cells. Reviews go back and forth. Please let me know what are your go too chargers that you like for multi battery sizes. Bonus points if you can charge one battery at a time. Thanks for the help.

Best answer: Wirecutter says you want the Panasonic BQ-CC55SBA. It's a no-frills AC powered charger I have a BC 700, an older version of the La Crosse BC1000. The advantage of this charger is you get lots of control over charging. You can have it discharge the battery first, or refresh the battery by discharging and recharging several times (good for Ni-Cd). You can also choose which amperage it charges at; lower is slower but better for your battery.

I have the aforementioned Panasonic; it's worked well for me for at least a year now. There are also versions on Amazon that come with 4 batteries.

Response by poster: Thanks for the responses - I guess the thing that was annoying me the most was the alarm saying the batteries were bad- when in fact I hadn't had them that long. The Panasonic will be my comparison model. I like the extra options. Take care!
