TurboTax browser problem

Stupid TurboTax question - why does it think I don't have a browser installed?

I'm using the desktop version of TurboTax, and there's a section where you can use something called "ItsDeductible" to figure out your charitable contributions. This portion of the program is online only. I'm on a wireless connection.

I click on "use ItsDeductible" and it's supposed to open your browser and direct to the proper site. Each time I try it I get an error that says "you don't appear to have an internet browser installed." I have 2 installed (Safari and Netscape, I'm on a Mac). Why can't I connect?

I've searched all the help, disabled virus protection, adjusted the firewall, tried connecting with a browser already launched, not launched, etc, and it refuses to recognize I have a browser installed - period. Ideas? Thanks.

A quick google search suggests that TurboTax will only use Internet Explorer.

Response by poster: I am an asshole. Truly. Forgive me. I had the worst search terms EVAR. I blame the IRS. Thank you.

No, TurboTax worked with FireFox on a Windows XP machine for me.

Response by poster: Yeah, actually, the more I read of your search results, stavrogin (thanks again), it seems like it's not dependant on IE. I forgot I have Firefox, too, so it's 3 browsers it's not recognizing as installed...

I found this post on the turbotax forums that says ItsDeductible doesn't work on Macs. But, there seems to be other people using it under mac os. The people who have it working say that they're using TurboTax Premier and one mentions java. Those could be possible pointers to solutions.

The ID forum.

Response by poster: Problem solved....I simply went to the TurboTax site and downloaded all the updates I possibly could, and voila, itsdeductible now works on Safari! (And DAMN it's worth it - I just got about an $800 deduction for crap I gave to Goodwill which I NEVER would have valued this highly)
