New puppy, needs name.

So, my sister wore me down and we have a new puppy. He's big, 60 pounds at 6 months. They tell me he may double in size in 6 months. He not afraid of barking, but seems very gentle and is shy. So, what should we call him?

I believe you have adopted a wookie, but I don't love the name Chewbacca. However, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, or another Star Wars name would be appropriate.

I'm a big Outlander fan, and that shaggy, bearded fellow is giving me a real Scottish Highlander vibe. Ideas: Fergus, Murtagh (pronounced Mur-taw), Angus, Rupert, Dougal. Hagrid is good too!

I also really enjoy when people give their pets human names, especially if they trend a little middle-aged. I could totally see your fluffy boy as a Gary.

Thanks to everybody for all the fantastic suggestions, we went with Fergus. He's a Bernedoodle rescue we got from Illinois. He just got home from the groomer and looks great! No pooping in the house for the last two days, yea! He's a bit of a howler, and still shy, but he's getting along well with the other dogs and the rest of the family. Looks like he's going to fit right in.
