sharp shoulder spasm

I have experienced sudden onset of intense spasm. upper inside corner of my right scapula. mostly when I breath too deeply or move a certain way. I have full range of motion in my arm and do not feel that my breathing is obstructed. normally I would call the advice nurse (which I am going to do) or just go in, except not a great time, is it?

does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm going to call the advice nurse right now but its just my husband and I and the internet. more input might be helpful.

thanks!

Gallbladder pain can refer to that area.

Pleuritic chest pain?
I’ve had it occasionally, mostly when I had a big of some sort. Very painful and can be scary but always self resolved or resolved with NSAIDS.

I mean, it could either of those things but it could also be a pulled/cramped muscle because you slept funny. Call the nurse line and see what they say.

Response by poster: current status: advice nurse believes its a muscle spasm so I am icing and taking ibuprofen and resting. hopefully that's all it is and will resolve soon. I'm not usually a hypochondriac!

Have you been working from home when you normally don't? It's also possible that posture problems could set something like this off.

Possibly thoracic costovertebral dysfunction - basically a sprain of the join between your rib and spine. Gentle upper spinal stretches can help. Be alert to any symptoms that may indicate something worse. IANYD.

Are you starting to get a "bit older?" Any changes in fluid intake or diet (eating healthier, less salt)?

A few weeks ago, my right buttock (where it connects to the thigh) went and spasmed hard.

I took a half dose of Hydralyte daily to wash down a Robax in the morning to help me hobble into work. Mostly cleared up in about 4 days.

My mom at the same age (early 40s) used to have random debilitating muscle spasms in her calves but that went away after a couple of years. My boss is in his 60s - still in better shape than I had ever been (and I've tried to be in the past) and he has random muscle spasms that puts him on his back every so often.
