Whiteboard Fun

Our team has a giant whiteboard in a high traffic area. I'd like to write fun things on it for others in the company to see and interact with or collaborate on. Besides dad jokes, what other things can I write on the whiteboard to have some fun and learning with my coworkers? Whatever we do, I'd hope it starts to catch on and more and more people come and visit the whiteboard daily. If it helps I work at a pretty chill and energetic software startup in Austin.

Riddles or small puzzles. Get a Smullyan book for ideas.

Something interactive? "The coolest thing I saw on my way to the office today was _____" or something?

I love "before I die", a project where people completed that phrase on a public wall.

Start a new list every day. Places I want to travel, favorite animal, stuff like that.

We have a small whiteboard where we put questions for staff/students/visitors to answer.

Some that generated good responses:
*What are your favorite snowy day activities? (posted right after a snow day)
*What are your best tips for getting through the shorter days/winter?
*What is your favorite comfort food?
*What is your favorite non-pet animal?
*What is your must-have travel item?
*What historical person would you most like to have dinner with?
*What fictional character would you most like to meet?
*If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I used to run a caption contest on my whiteboard, like the New Yorker but with just random funny pictures of things.

Yeah the "ask a question" thing is a lot of fun.

Ask people to add to a list of movies, books, or songs that follow a certain theme.

We had a lot of small whiteboards in our office. Everyone seems to have at least two. Sometimes we use them for posting our schedules, since our schedules are extremely fluid.

A week ago I jotted down the names of all the movies I've ever walked out of in my life. I wasn't planning on exhibiting it anywhere, but everyone that came by my desk got very excited and wanted to add to the list with their own tragic film going experiences.

It was unexpected and fun!

In my office we have done both riddles and questions of the kind that CarrionComfort describes. I preferred the riddles because my department head expects that every week everyone is going to cough up answers to questions like "What's the best gift you ever gave someone," etc. Whereas with the riddles it's easier to keep your engagement optional.
