how do i get *just* the NYT MAGAZINE?

I love doing the NYT xword in the magazine. Something about using a red felt tip gliding over that glossy magazine paper just hits the spot in a way that clicking around my online subscription never will. But they don't offer it for sale without the whole paper! Halp!

I used to subscribe for delivery of just the Sunday paper, but I never read it, and when I did some budgeting it simply wasn't justifiable anymore. Now I miss my Sunday xword so much! Does anyone know if there's a way to get it? Or perhaps does someone not do the xword in the Sunday mag, and can mail it to me if I venmo you or make some kind of deal, I dont know, maybe give you the password to my online subscription which is like $50/year? That seems fair right?

I have Will Shortz books and stuff like that but there's just something special about doing the fresh out of the oven brand new Sunday xword every week on IRL paper that I miss terribly.

(I think this fits Ask guidelines but if not just let me know!)

I would try your neighbors first. My next-door neighbor (who recently moved, sadly) used to give me the whole paper on Sunday afternoon because they were just going to recycle it anyway. You can see which neighbors get the paper if you take an early-morning walk. If you don't know any of them well enough to ask, just make a post on Nextdoor (or Freecycle, if it's active where you live). If you're willing to do older puzzles, my local library also has a magazine recycling bin where people continually recycle the NYT magazine, and your library might have something similar as well.

Response by poster: oh cool what is this app? I'm downloading now... I haven't noticed any papers at neighbors doors in my building, but maybe this will work! cool idea! the library is worth a shot maybe also... but if i could simplify the process and have it be consistent that would be just ideal. thank you for the ideas!

The puzzle can be downloaded as a pdf and printed, if that would meet your needs.

Your library may also have access to the New York Times Magazine online through one of its databases, in which case you might be able to print off current and past puzzles from home.

The OP says "Something about using a red felt tip gliding over that glossy magazine paper just hits the spot in a way that clicking around my online subscription never will." So the digital/printer paper versions aren't what they're looking for.

...unless OP prints the crossword puzzle on glossy paper, maybe?

Response by poster: yeah regular paper just doesn't do it. this is a very specific itch I'm trying to scratch (and certainly not critical, so i extra appreciate the suggestions) but man, would it be nice. glossy paper is a fun option but there's something specific about the magazine paper... also there are extra puzzles, and about once a month or so they have the diagramless which is one of my favorite things and such a great surprise!

i got the neighborhood app let's see if anything comes from that if nobody here has one to throw my way!
thanks y'all!

(side note- Miko whether you used 'they' pronouns bc you were unsure about gender or if you specifically used that bc you checked my profile, it happens so rarely that it was like an electric shock of YAY and worth the making the post just for that :-D woo!)
