Another edition of “name this cat!”
July 17, 2019 10:44 PM

A few days ago we adopted this very handsome boy, but have yet to figure out his name. Help us name this cat! (More details within.)

The new kitty is three years old, male, and incredibly chill. Very little seems to phase him except for loud startling noises and the site of a cat carrier. When we got him home he did not hide behind any furniture in his starting room, but instead just walked to the food bowl and had a snack.

He is very friendly and snuggly, sometimes rubbing on my legs so much that I have trouble sitting down. Not a lap cat so far but will lean against you and just PURR. He has large paws that he kneads with a lot when happy.

We have two incumbent cats who he hasn’t been introduced to yet, but their names don’t follow a pattern so no help there. We do tend to prefer person-names rather than object or fanciful names like “Mittens”.

(Note: our home has had multiple cat generations over the years and we have a lot of practice with integrating new family members, so no advice needed there. Looking for naming help only. :) )

He looks like the twin of my dear departed kitty Martha, so I think he might be George. (General or Mr. President for short.)

Since he's wearing a very dapper pinstriped suit, you could name him after Gomez Addams.

Eccleston.

I honestly have no idea why, but that cat just screams “Eccleston” to me. He doesn’t sound very much like the Ninth Doctor, but there you have it.
