Where to stay in the Bahamas

Four nights in the Bahamas! Any recommendations for a mildly affordable place to stay that may be a little quieter than the huge resorts on Paradise Island?

I found cheap tix to Nassau for a 4 night weekend getaway with someone special in midmarch. Is it possible to avoid the big resorts full of spring-breaking undergrads, or should I just suck it up and enjoy not being in boston? Should I try to get to other islands? Anyone have good experiences in the Bahamas?

Mainly interested in R&R, pretty beaches, etc. Not averse to the idea of a resort or all-inclusive place, but I've never been and have no desire to be surrounded by frat boys for the entire vacation.

The NYT had an article in last Sunday's Travel section about quieter parts of the Bahamas. Should still be available w/o the archive fee.

Abaco and the out islands around it are quite nice and extremely relaxing. I spent a week on Elbow Cay several years back. Rented a small house right on the harbour in Hopetown. Beautiful.

For more information on Abaco and the nearby out islands, check out the Coconut Telegraph.
