Mistaking insurance salesman for a guru

Does this movie exist or is it a figment of my imagination? This is all I remember: A man mistakes insurance salesman for his guru and spiritual teacher. He follows him around and in spite of salesman not being an actual guru, the man eventually reaches enlightenment.

Is there any chance this is a slight mis-remember of 'The World's Greatest Sinner'? It follows a fired insurance salesman who becomes a guru.

It is very weird. Zappa did the music.
