Mac woes

This seems like a simple thing but I can't find the answer online, so I'm relying on the collective wisdom of y'all. Please help - should be a simple one! My macmail keeps sending emails as if they are coming from one account when I wanted to send them from another account. In the macmail app it looks like it's been sent by the correct account, but in people's inboxes it's a different story. This is really messing with my conversational threads and bad for client management. More detail inside...

I've got a new(ish - around a year) Macbook Pro. I have around four email accounts connected to this, and as a freelancer with several clients / email accounts having the ability to see everything in one go is invaluable.

However, I need to be able to send emails from each account and whenever I do, even when it says I am sending it from Email address A, it comes up in the recipient's email accounts as coming from Client B. Even though in Sent it says coming from Email address A.

I've gone through re-installing each email account, but still no luck.

I'm not particularly mac-literate so newbie-friendly answers please!

Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts

There are two things to check if you haven't already. For each account on the "Account Information" tab there a dropdown "Email Address". You can edit your "FROM" there. On the "Server Settings" tab, choose the corresponding "Outgoing Mail" account, or edit your SMTP servers there.

I'm using Mojave.
