Where can I buy an adult figure skating costume (dress) in NYC?

Yeah, we're gonna be Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan. Yeah, I waited until the last minute and can't order it online.

I guess something approximating an ice skating dress is OK too. I have access to a Bedazzler. Manhattan or Brooklyn. Cheap is good but I know I'm going to pay a price for waiting. I'm like a size 8-10.

Please mention if you KNOW there are dresses there as opposed to just finding through Google or there used to be five years ago, as I'm time limited at this point. Thanks! If you know of a way to get something online by Saturday, that's cool too, but all the things I looked at online wouldn't arrive until well into next week.

If you have a Bedazzler, your cheapest and best bet might be to follow this costume tutorial and just find a bodysuit and a skirt in your size. The Rainbow or similar closest to you would likely have both for pretty cheap, as well as cheap white ankle-high boots (since going around in skates sounds like a rough time). You could line the bottoms of the boots with some aluminum foil to approximate the blades. Eyeshadow (from any Duane Reade) and a wig would complete the look -- there's a row of really well-stocked wig shops on Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn between the Prospect Park and Parkside B/Q subway stops. There's also a Rainbow right up the street from there with a pretty good shoe/boot selection.

You could also call New York Costumes if you haven't tried them yet -- they have literally everything, but there's so much inventory that it's a challenge to wade through it all even in person and speaking directly to someone there would be the quickest route.

I'm a skater but I don't live in NY so I can't recommend specific places, but you should also be looking at dance shops. A long-sleeve leotard + ballet practice skirt in the same color will come really close to a skating outfit.

aw dang
Well, Gorilla Glue (or even clear Elmer's school glue) would work; that and a pack of sequins from Michael's would be another option!

I did this for a party once, and bought an American Apparel skater dress (don’t forget the scrunchie and tan tights!)
You could probably go to a dance store like Capezio in Midtown and get some good things to approximate a skater’s costume.
