Help me find an aerobics DVD?

As part of an attempt to lose weight and generally be fitter/healthier, I've started going to aerobics classes at my university sports/fitness centre. However due to their/my timetable, I can only go to 3 a week, 2 if I'm away at the weekend visiting my boyfriend.

I know there are other ways of having an aerobic workout other than classes (running, cycling etc), but I've found that the classes seem to work quite well for me - once I'm in there I'm stuck in there for an hour, wheras if I'm just doing stuff myself I can easily get bored and stop whenever.

In light of this, I'm considering buying a DVD that would have the same effect as a class. Unfortunatly, I have no clue whatsoever about the world of fitness DVDs, and although I've done some browsing on Amazon I haven't been able to find anything that looks right.

I've seen this question, and looked at a couple of the links in it, but didn't find them very useful.

I'm looking for a straightforward aerobics class style thing - no dance stuff or anything, I hate that crap. It also needs to be available on region 2 DVD, and preferably for sale on Amazon UK or another UK retailer.

You might want to try ordering the Collage Video catalog -- I find browsing through that, even though it doesn't have all their videos in it, is much more informative than looking at their website, which I find too busy and overwhelming. Then, when you find something that looks promising, you can try to get it through Amazon to make sure the DVD region is right.

Some people say that there are a fair number of exercise DVDs on file sharing networks, and that it's a good way to see what's out there, what instructors you can stand etc, and get some variety without paying a whole load of money straight off.

I would never endorse such a practice, of course.

crabintheocean: Be that as it may, I'm on the university network, and so immoral practises such as file sharing networks are an imposibility for the lawless heathens that indulge in such things.

i've heard good things about the firm dvds. i'm a yoga girl myself, and if you want to go that route, try rodney yee or baron baptiste's dvds,. there are some pretty impressive power yoga dvds that help strengthen your muscles and therefore also help lose weight. do not ask me to explain how this works, all i know is that for me, yoga = weight loss and made my body look better.

Carmen Electra's fit to strip is really fun. Also Billy Blank's (or is it Blanks') Tae Bo cardio is a really good, intense workout. Netflix has a plethora of fitness dvd's and they're almost always available immediately. When I'm looking for something new - I typically head to Amazon and read customer reviews.
