Lipstick Dupe

I really love the color of Revlon 665 super luxurious lipstick creme "choco licious" (amazon Walmart random women from the internet) but not only is it discontinued, it's also a smeary mess that disappears the first time I open and close my mouth, even with primer & liner. So I'm looking for a long-wearing dupe. Not looking to buy the discontinued lipstick itself--looking for the color in a lipstick that wears well.

I find Besame and Elixery have the best staying power for me. Clearly, I have no issue with spending $22-25 on a lipstick. I'm in Chicago, with easy access to everything from Walgreens, to Sephora, to Nieman Marcus. I would much prefer buying it in person.

I know I could go the counter and compare the tube to everything in the shop, but I'm hoping this will be more efficient. Thanks!

Best answer: I'm guessing that Smashbox in Coffee Run or Chocolate Matte would be close to this. I have good luck with the staying power of these.

Their Always on Liquid Lipstick REALLY stays on. Slay Tan and Deep Thoughts look closest in shade to me.

Stila's liquid is also a good bet for staying power, but I didn't find anything color wise that stood out as a good match with a quick look.

Definitely take it to the staff at Sephora and tell them what you’re looking for. I had tremendous luck with doing this in the same situation. I think it took the staff maybe 7 minutes to find me the same shade in a formula that didn’t smear like crazy? Bonus: if it doesn’t work for you, Sephora has a great return policy.

The best staying power I've ever gotten with a lipstick is Beauty Bakerie's Lip Whip. The downside is that they're drying, hard to apply evenly if you're a doofus like me, and the wear pattern can be unflattering. Beauty Bakerie's Chocolate for Breakfast seems close.

Less pure staying power, but better on the wear and application for me is NARS PowerMatte in "Spin Me." It transfers more than the Lip Whip, but with liner, lasted through a five course banquet dinner with greasy lobster bisque.

For an affordable replacement, I've been impressed with Milani lipsticks, they have one called Double Espresso that looks close.

Hi. I'm a lipstick fiend. I love all the lippies.

First of all, if you're looking for long wear and no transfer, go for a matte. The second you start looking at glossy or sheer or shine or anything you usually pay for it with decreased weartime and much more transfer. I'm living the matte life, baby, and god damn is it sweet. :)

Have you tried any NYX products? They are affordable enough that you can try them without too much investment, but they are still really good quality (IMO), on a par with most of my high end brand lippies.

In particular, I have had great luck with their:
- Liquid Suede (I own almost every shade, long wearing, doesn't transfer very much, pretty comfortable, excellent colour payoff)
- Liquid Lingerie (I own about half the shades, SUPER long wearing, doesn't transfer much, pretty comfortable)
- Soft Matte Lip Cream (comfortable, sliiiightly less colour payoff but you can layer a bit, pretty long lasting and can leave a bit of a nice stain as it wears off)
- Matte Lipstick bullets. (I own probably 75% of the shades, super comfortable, nicely matte, nice wearing, fairly long lasting)

I am not familiar with the colour you mention, but it looks like a slightly reddish brown.

Maybe try:
- Liquid Suede: Downtown Beauty
- Liquid Lingerie Beauty Mark or Teddy
- Soft Matte Lip Cream: Berlin or Dubai
- In your Element: Metallic Brown

So I def suggest looking to NYX. I have zero affiliation with them, but I honestly think they are fabulous. I also find that NYX layers well, so it can be really easy to create your perfect colour by layering/mixing two together. I do this a lot.

If not, I agree with above to go to Sephora and see what they can suggest.

Milani Tuscan Toast would be a good dupe, I think. I love their lipsticks: good staying power, not drying, and not expensive!

Fenty Beauty - PMS (Moody Brown). I can't speak to the color, but I love, love, love her lipstick formula. It layers and builds well with a brush for varying levels of intensity and lasts true to color.

Second NYX for any dupe you ever want of anything ever. They are hands-down the best drugstore dupes, and everything is long-wearing. I'm wearing their Epic Liner right now, which is a dupe for the Kat Von D tattoo liner that actually lasts better than the original.

They also do great primers, so I would layer their primer with one of the suggestions from PuppetMcSockerson. You can get it at Target/Walgreens but there will be a better selection at Ulta if there's one near you. (Sephora doesn't carry NYX).

If you're looking for a solid, creamy lipstick (rather than a liquid) I'd try the Pin Up Pout line--they have several brown shades but I'd guess the closest ones to your Chocolicious shade are Rebel Soul (dusty brownish plum) or Savage (true deep brown). Also, if you want to layer a gloss on top for some shine, there's nothing like their Butter Gloss. Butter gloss over a NYX matte lippie will get me through an entire dinner without touchups.

Temptalia's dupe finder doesn't have any for that specific color, but it's a great tool for finding dupes, if you can start with something similar.
