Text Notifications on Repeat from Certain Person

I will be occasionally receiving text messages from one particular person that need to be responded to immediately and would like to know if there is a way to get my notification tone to repeat until I read the message.

Basically I'm looking to turn any incoming texts from my co-worker into an alarm clock, where I am notified audibly until I address the message. These texts will be arriving most likely during hours that I am normally asleep, so I need the tone to not only wake me up but to be something I cannot ignore.

Currently I have my phone's sound on during the night, and occasionally receive text messages from other people or other notifications. My brain has gotten used to kind of ignoring these sounds until I am fully awake, so if my phone goes off in the middle of the night, I usually don't hear it. But with these text messages coming from my coworker, I need to be aware of and address them ASAP.

I have already set her notification tone to be a completely different sound so that hopefully hearing that particular sound will trigger me to wake up and look at my phone. But I would love it if there were some way to turn this into an alarm clock like feature. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7.

Is there a reason your coworker won't just call if it's that important? On Android you can set people to be exceptions to do not disturb mode.

I'm not sure if you can put it on repeat, but you may be able to make a long media file. The problem with that is it will play all the way through each time that person texts.

I think you should be able to do this using the Tasker app.

Best answer: On a Samsung:

Settings-> Sounds and Vibration-> Do Not Disturb-> Allow exceptions-> Custom

There you can set preferences for apps, calls, messages and specific contact notifications that can be allowed through while do not disturb is enabled.

Settings-> Accessibility-> notification reminder

There you can set repeat notifications/intervals

On Android, Light Flow allows extensive customizing of sounds, lights, and vibrations for any app that has notifications. (Ignore the fact that the name sounds like a period tracker.)
