How can I get this printer to print in draft mode?

I have a HP OfficeJet 4650 that will not print in draft mode. I've tried every setting possible but all pages are coming out almost wet.

I've spoken to HP customer service, letting them set it up for draft mode remotely, but no dice. They (HP) says that newer printers print better because of new technologies, and maybe I can't tell the difference? Bull. A damp page isn't draft mode, unless the term "draft mode" means something new. This is costing me $$ because instead of ink lasting 45 days, it runs out in only 15-20 days.

I just thought someone in the hive mind might have some insight to this problem. I hope so, and thank you in advance!

I'm not sure, but have you tried printing in Draft Mode from Word or your office suite of choice? Wouldn't that have about the same effect?

Are you printing things in color? Do you need to? If not, get a cheap Brother laser printer(about $100) and use that. If you are printing so much that you are buying new cartridges every 1-3 months, switching to laser will pay for itself in short order.

Response by poster: Fixed it! I didn't know knew drivers etc were available on line. Installing them fixed it. Thanks!
