I wish to find the space whales. (they were having sex)
They were whales. Living in stars. Having sex. Google is more useless than usual. I have checked TVTropes.
These are the things I'm almost entirely completely mostly kinda sorta maybe sure about:
- aliens of a form resembling Earth whales
- living inside stars (possibly but not necessarily our human Sun)
- having sex
- Hugo/Nebula/etc. winner
- infamous because of the above
- 20+ years ago
- short story
Humans were there, but not directly involved, just observing.
