What's that song? Mefi post edition

OK I just went thru 3 years of the music tag trying to find this thing. Metafilter post about a band that dropped an album, a pop-ish band that referenced militant politics and had gospel samples. One of the music videos was shot in what looked like a warehouse basement with revolutionary group detritus in it -- -posters, pamphlets, later on weapons? My Google has failed me and I want to buy their album, pls help, thanks in advance.
