(middle) name this baby!

Help us find a fun middle name for a boy that starts with an “S”?

Expecting our first child any day now, and still don’t know fully what we’re putting on his birth certificate! We have a first name (two syllables, ends in Y) but are still hunting for a middle name. We’re looking for something that begins with an “S”, to honor a deceased grandparent. Bonus points if it starts with “Sh.”

We’re interested in something more unusual or nontraditional—doesn’t need to be a traditional first name or a name at all—but nothing’s quite hit our fancy. Things that we like that it might be cool to reference, in no particular order:
Science
Famous women
Social justice/lefty activism
Baseball
Music, with a lean towards experimental & heavier genres

We’re white Americans, with a 4-syllable hyphenated last name. Baby will have Jewish background but not looking for anything heavily Biblical or Hebrew. Thanks for your help!

Or Spies after August Spies, a Haymarket leader and martyr.
From Wikipedia:
As he faced his demise on the gallows, Spies shouted, "The day will come when our silence will be more powerful than the voices you are throttling today."

And having spies as a middle name is way better than danger as a middle name.

(Full disclosure, to the extent it might matter: it's my dog's middle name.)

Satchel is a fantastic baseball name that evokes civil rights and doing-your-own-thing-iness.

Scioscia is also a good baseball name that evokes grit and old-school values, and is also very hard to spell.

Agree that one syllable makes a lot of rhythmic sense with a 2-syllable-ends-with-Y first name and a 4-syllable last name.

So maybe
Swift
Starr
Syd
Sol
Shai
Shep
Spock (couldn't resist)

Having said that, my favorite science word (which just so happens to start with S) is Syzygy.

Sandy for Sandy Koufax, a baseball pitcher. Youngest player ever elected to the Hall of Fame. First to throw 4 no-hitters, a feat done by only 1 other player. Won 3 Cy Young Awards for best pitcher, which 9 other players have done. Sandy is the only one to so it before there was 1 award for each league, not 1 award for all of baseball.

Sandy is Jewish. He received attention and earned respect beyond sports when he refused to pitch in Game 1 of the 1965 World Series because it fell on Yom Kippur.

To make the name fun, you could spell it Shandy, then have a good story to explain why the 'h' is silent.
