Windows Woes

I bought a laptop with a Traditional Chinese language edition of Windows 7 on it... help me keep my license as I switch over to an SSD. Complicating details inside.

I'm not totally sure what the Windows 7 product key is. It's not printed on the outside of the laptop and none of the programs I tried turned anything up.

However, I was able to find a product key in the BIOS. I believe that this is a Windows 8 product key, and I suspect that this computer was downgraded to Windows 7.

Is it possible to simply use that key for a new Windows 7 install? What's my best option?

Did you try the Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder and/or NirSoft ProduKey? I have always found both of these completely reliable for retrieving the product key that the currently running instance of Windows was activated with.
