HBO via Amazon

Straight to TLDR: What should I watch on HBO while I'm paying for it on Amazon?
I liked the Wire of course, Breaking Bad (AMC, I know) of course, SATC back in the day, etc. Can I watch GOT on it? What else should I watch? Note I am paying for it to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9, I couldn't resist. But as a normally frugal person, I feel like I should be watching MORE to make it 'worth it'. So, what do you recommend? I also like foreign films, documentaries etc...

Best answer: Insecure! Insecure, Insecure, Insecure. It is SO GOOD. The two seasons are short and so very bingeable, and like nothing I've ever seen before on TV.
I've also heard that The Deuce is very good, if you liked The Wire.

Response by poster: Okay you guys really came through but it looks like all 7 seasons of GOT are there so I'm going to be busy. Sopranos I saw most of, not all of it, including not seeing the 'big finale'. I think someone else may have mentioned 'Insecure' to me, and I saw Angels in America (the film?) a few years (10+?) ago and was blown away by it. I like Studs Terkel, his books anyway, and I, yes, must watch The Deuce, given my love for David Simon's genius. Nice work! Keep the suggestions coming.

I loved The Leftovers. It really kicks in by the second season. Also - Tickled - is one of the weirder most bizarre documentaries I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t turn away.

Yes, The Leftovers. It took me a little while to get into it, but I am so glad I stuck with it. It is my all-time favorite tv series -- it really blew me away.

If it's available: Treme is another David Simon project. Kind of a different vibe than The Wire, but I really enjoyed it.

High Maintenance. It started as a web series so the first five(?) seasons are only like an hour long and made up of 5-15 minute mini-episodes; the most recent season is six episodes of traditional length, so it's easy to watch the whole thing. It's spectacular.

Generation Kill, another David Simon project
and
True Detective season 1 which seriously comprises some of the best acting and chatacter development and just gripping television I have ever seen. Season 2 would have been really impressive too, if you weren't always thinking, "Yeah, but Season ONE!" I don't even know if it was HBO, I think so, but even if it isn't, just watch it. I watched it 2 times in a row when I first got it, it was that good, and I've watched it twice since, and I'm getting the itch again.

I liked True Detective, Season 1 (this is from a couple years ago now) and I got HBO again earlier this year to watch The Young Pope, specifically, and quite enjoyed it!

I can +1 a lot of recommendations on the thread so far (Deadwood, Flight of the Conchords, Game of Thrones...) but one I haven't seen mentioned yet:
The Memory of Justice. It's a phenomenal, fascinating documentary (one that sent me down a multiple-month rabbit hole of reading followup books...) and HBO is the only place you can find it.

Veep, unless you hate to laugh. Half hour show with funny, smart writing. Lots of one liners. Excellent cast. Each season improves over the last. Julia Louis-Dreyfus earned 6 Emmy's in a row for it for good reason. I am going to be so sad when this last season airs.

Enlightened features a fantastic Laura Dern as a complex antihero who may or may not be a good person, and may or may not succeed in becoming a better one. Written by Mike White.
