Boston souvenirs

Friends from overseas are asking me where to find "inexpensive souvenirs" in Boston. I'm kind of stumped, and suggested museums or the guys in the Common who sell t shirts... any other thoughts where to get souvenirs?

Faneuil Hall (the actual hall itself, not Quincy Market) has souvenir shopping inside - they've got a variety of Boston/New England doodads and edible stuff like salt water taffy and maple syrup.

Harvard or MIT gear from the co-ops
Red Sox (or other Boston sports) gear from anywhere
There are generic souvenir shops in Quincy Market and in the Pru mall

Airports always have things like t-shirts, postcards, magnets, stuffed animals, etc. Logan has plenty.

Chinatown might be good for that sort of thing - it's near South Station

Brookline Booksmith! Also, Black Ink usually has a some Boston/New-England- specific stuff in additional to general gifty-type things.

National Parks usually have ace gift stores with a whole range of goodies relevant to the city's history and culture, most at decent prices (I was just recently in Boston doing the tourist thing for the first time). Faneuil Hall, Bunker Monument, Charlestown Navy Yard all had NPS shops.

The Public Market has tons of locally-made specialty foods, many OK for flying with. Fun to visit and sample, too.
