NYC good eats between LGA & JFK?

5 hours between landing at LGA & needing to check in at JFK: where should we go to grab a tasty bite to eat?
Pretty much what it says on the tin. Additional detail: five hours will smack into workday rush hours.
We eat everything. Bonus points if there's a good bookstore or coffee shop nearby.
Thank you!

The best neighborhoods for most ethnic cuisines are mostly on that route.
Non-mexican latam
Thai, south Asia of many stripes.
Regional Chinese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian
I forget many others.
There are also great red sauce italian places.

Eta. Also your only surface transport will be LGA to the resto. You can air train +Subway/LIRR the rest.

Getting out of LGA right now sucks, unless you grab a yellow cab. So, grab a yellow cab, go to Jackson Hole diner in Astoria, then continue to JFK via whatever combo of mass transit required.

Take the Q70 express bus to 74 St/Roosevelt Av. There are many options in the immediate vicinity, I recommend the Jackson Diner. The E train is right there, which will take you to Jamaica and the Air Train to JFK.

Indian-style Chinese at Tangra Masala in Elmhurst. A 12 minute straight shot from LGA and 20 minutes down Woodhaven Blvd from there to JFK. Make your life easy and use Uber or the slightly cheaper local alternative Juno: Queens is big and the buses are slow. But you can take the train from Tangra Masala to JFK if you want -- Grand Avenue station is 50 feet away, switch trains across platform at Forest Hills and then switch to AirTrain at Jamaica. 45 minutes give or take.

I usually eat at SriPraPhai when I fly into LGA. Great execution of Thai classics, not particularly expensive for NY. Near the 74 St/Rosevelt Ave area that 1970s Antihero recommended.

Best answer: SriPraPhai is great. I also love the Arepa Lady, near Roosevelt-74th. House of Inasal is good for Filipino food. I hear there are a number of good places for pupusas in Jamaica (easy to get to JFK from there)--maybe El Comal?

Pete Wells did a nice writeup of Don Peppe recently, right by JFK. Red-sauce Italian. Closed Mondays.

I agree with the suggestion to take the Q70 to come to Jackson Heights. But I'm going to have to take exception to the Jackson Diner recommendation. That place was awesome maybe 10 to 15 years ago, but they've been resting on their laurels for a long time and their food is now mediocre at best ( and that's on a good day). But within a block or so on either side are two amazing places: Phayul, which is Tibetan, and Samudra, which specializes in Dosas. If you'll have luggage, probably Samudra is better, as Phayul is up a flight of stairs. Dosa Delight is also very good, although maybe a notch below Samudra.

I meant to add: for Thai, Sripraphai is the best, but if you'd rather stay in Jackson Heights (near the E train), Kitchen 79 is also excellent Thai food.

Ayada is every bit as good as Sri and is very close to the E (which is the subway to Jamaica that connects to the airtrain)
Would favor Parkside over Don Peppe and that's not close to a competition.

Response by poster: Just checking back in to say thank you everybody! We took a cab to the Arepa Lady and had the best sangria and arepas. And then we hopped on the E train and made it to JFK with time to spare. Thank you for making an imperfect layover, well: perfect!
