Georgia on my mind...

Is it worth traveling ~three hours to canvass for the Georgia 6th election?

I'm serendipitously off work from Sunday evening through Wednesday afternoon, and this pivotal district is just three hours away. I've also got my own car, comfortable shoes, and a whole week's worth of door-knocking experience in Tampa this past November, so I'm pretty familiar with the walk sheet system.

OTOH, I've been hearing that the race is utterly saturated with money, ads, and volunteers, and wonder how much it would really help to have one extra last-minute body for a day or two, minus the six hour round trip drive time.

So, should I make the trip? Or would it be basically as effective to phone bank from home? (And if I do go, are there any local Mefites who want to meet up and fight the good fight?)

Yes. It sounds like you're ready and that it will be fun!

Everyone I know who lives in the 6th (I live in the 4th) is being driven insane by non-stop calls, attack ads, poll-takers, and canvassers. They just want it all to end. It might be a fun thing for you to do, but the people I know in the district are just completely over it.

I'm not going to be the one to tell you not to do this, because we need people out working the front lines against the likes of Karen Handel. But I honestly can't imagine that you'll be effective in this particular race, at this point in time.

Oh god, no. I live in the 5th and everyone in the 6th is nearly homicidal. I can't imagine how someone else knocking doors would help increase anyone's awareness or ability to turn out for Ossoff. It has reached saturation.

Please don't. I live here and it is oversaturated (and a lot of us have already voted!) Also it's hot and you don't want to be walking around outside.

I live in the 6th ... there are very few if any undecided voters at this point. (And many of us have already voted - there have been an overwhelming number of early votes cast in this election.)

If you're looking for something to do - come on to Atlanta and have some fun, but I don't think you need to canvass unless you are just really into that (and you're supporting my candidate!).

Point taken! No road trip for me.

That said, if Ossoff ends up losing by <10 votes, I am holding this thread LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE. :0
