Ride-sharing vehicles marked for safety?

Would we be safer if Uber and other ride-sharing services were required by law to include a visual indicator on their vehicle so that other drivers on the roadway could be warned to watch out for aggressive driving, distracted driving and frequent stops?

Once per week over the past year I've found myself driving in a congested metropolitan area and the car in front of me dangerously slams on their brakes and flips on their hazard lights to let passengers out. They just block traffic. I never have any warning when this is going to happen. With taxis and buses I know to use extra precaution when navigating around them on the roadway.

The indicator could be anything. Drivers enroll in the service and the service sends a light that goes on top of the car. Something in the window. A license plate holder. Just something that warns people that this car is an Uber/Lyft/etc. and they may drive erratically.

Where could I find statistics regarding congestion and accidents? Do I start a petition? Who can I write to about the issue? Is it even an issue?

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, a more focused question just about looking for statistics on traffic behavior could work okay but as is this is mostly an unanswerable "this situation is bothering me" sort of deal rather than a workable Ask MetaFilter question. -- cortex

Look for a human being behind the wheel. If a person is operating the car, it is likely to behave erratically.
