At your local ballpark, what happens during the 7th inning stretch? Where do you live?

In Milwaukee, people stand up and then they play "Roll Out the Barrel" over the PA. If it's a Sunday, they also play "God Bless America."

Cincinnati, Ohio.

We all stand up, sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame." We insert "Redlegs" into that verse, "So it's root, root, root, for the REDLEGS...."

After that, there's a video they play on the JumboTron called "Cincinnati, Ohio."

This might be useful.

(We also do "Take Me Out To The Ball Game." in Milwaukee.)

Pittsburgh, PA: we sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

Between the 5th and 6th innings, though, we have the Great Pierogi Race.

Toronto.

We stand up and sing OK Blue Jays. There is kind of a dance/aerobics routine that goes with it. We take the stretch part of the seventh inning stretch very seriously here.

Then we sing Take Me Out To The Ballgame. My partner calls strikes very enthusiastically, with arm gestures.

Response by poster: for the record, OK Blue Jays is my ringtone

Seattle: "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" with Mariners inserted as the team to cheer for, with cheesy karaoke-style lyrics video on the jumbotron.

Chicago. Northside. It's "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at Wrigley with a guest singer taking the place of Harry Caray (RIP).

Boston, MA is well-known at Fenway Park for singing "Sweet Caroline" during the 7th inning stretch.

In Baltimore: Take me out to the ballgame, and then Thank God I'm a Country Boy (with the "Oh" part turned into "O's" - just after 1:26 in the linked video you can hear that)

Wikipedia has a good article on seventh inning stretch traditions too.

Pretty sure Sweet Caroline is middle of the 8th, xingcat.

In Queens, we sing Take Me Out to the Ball Game followed by Lazy Mary while they shoot T-shirts from the cannons.

In Oklahoma City, they sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" followed by "Oklahoma!", which I've always found delightful. The team and ownership has changed since I last attended a game, so I have no idea if that's still the tradition.

zamboni is correct--Sweet Caroline is sung in the middle of the 8th inning. The 7th inning stretch features God Bless America and Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

Ahem. Correction to Fenway traditions stated above:

7th Inning Stretch is "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."

8th Inning is "Sweet Caroline."

Yankees fan here. God Bless America every 7th inning and Take me out to the Ball Game. Having lived in Chicago for many years too, I can say that the Harry Carey and now guest singing of TMOTTBG is done no better anywhere than on the North Side.

Why the Yankees play Cotton Eyed Joe in the 8th inning is beyond my comprehension level.

I see that this has been answered for my home team (Baltimore) and I am reading along with interest. I'm crossing my fingers that someone will chime in on if this exists (and how) in international play. Not just in Central/South America, but Japan. I talked myself out of going to a game while in Japan because someone mentioned that the rituals may be hard to follow. Now I'm wondering if they have this as well.

In Japan they release sperm balloons during the 7th inning stretch.
That's all the information I have. Maybe someone else can explain.

Minor League Team in Frederick, Maryland: we sing the team song and everyone shakes their car keys (the team is the Frederick Keys).

At Petco/Padres we always sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame. They do God Bless America on Memorial Day and July 4th (and other times when they just feel like it - it's a big military town).

I watch the Twins in Minnesota and we sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

Atlanta Braves: "Take me out to the Ballgame" is immediately followed by "Thank God I'm a Country Boy."

We also sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame on the south side of Chicago, and on rare occasions we like to grump internally about how the whole Harry Caray singalong thing was actually invented down here.

In Albuquerque we also sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" for the 7th inning stretch. But in the 6th inning, we have a race between the Green Chile, the Red Chile, and the Taco.

Not my local ballpark, but I was lucky enough to see thousands of balloons released by Hanshin Tigers fans in Osaka, Japan.

I'm in Kansas City, where we also sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" with accompanying hand gestures. We're pretty enthusiastic strike-callers here. The song is followed by a promotion for a casino.

And Billy Joel's "Piano Man" in the middle of the 8th.

Portland, Maine - home of the AA Portland Sea Dogs.

Slugger, our mascot, stands on the first base (home team) dugout roof and leads the crowd in TMOTTBG. Because we are a Red Sox affiliate we also have Sweet Caroline in the 8th. (Also YMCA in the middle of the 5th, along with a shout out to the local children's hospital.)

In Los Angeles, we sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame in the 7th. Of course, we root for the Dodgers.
In the 8th, we often sing and dance to "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, while the stadium cam broadcasts the truest believers.

In Oakland, the A's play "Take Me Out To the Ballgame", followed by an uptempo dancy song. "Twist and Shout" is the one I remember most strongly, but there have definitely been others. Of course, during the playoffs, they (are forced to) play "God Bless America" after TMOTTB.

In Houston, we sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame and then we sing Deep in the Heart of Texas (that's a link to Wikipedia for the gory details). Because Texas.

Having just seen this thread now...

In Washington, D.C. at the Nationals games, we do the Racing Presidents in the 4th inning (Let Teddy win!!).
During the 7th inning stretch, we sing "Take me out to the Ballgame" with hand gestures and "root for the Nationals" as the lyric. Afterwards, they do some sort of sing-along song for everyone. For a long time, the sing-along song was "Take on Me" by Aha, which was awesomely fun. I wish they would bring it back...

Sorry, this thread just came to my attention in the question about regional knowledge so I had to come here and vent my rage about this...

Toronto. We stand up and sing OK Blue Jays . There is kind of a dance/aerobics routine that goes with it. We take the stretch part of the seventh inning stretch very seriously here. Then we sing Take Me Out To The Ballgame.

Specifically the last line. This is new. Take me out to the ballgame never used to be part of the seventh inning stretch. Change is wrong and bad and singing take me out to the ballgame is bad for that reason. However, it's ALSO bad because they had to shorten OK Blue Jays to fit that other stupid song in! Now they skip verses and it's a shortened stretch so that there's time to do the other song. I sing OK Blue Jays, do the stretch and then sit down and try to ignore the interloper song that does not belong and that has resulted in the desecration of my beloved OK Blue Jays song. Bring back the full song! We did not win any World Series singing take me out to the ballgame.

Also, I learned on Canada day that there is also a fourteenth inning stretch. I bet there's a 21st inning stretch, but thanks to Darwin Barney's lousy pitching, we'll never know.

gemmy: "For a long time, the sing-along song was "Take on Me" by Aha, which was awesomely fun. I wish they would bring it back..."

To add to the list of now-defunct Nats traditions, when the team first came to DC the 7th inning stretch dance song was always House of Pain - Jump Around, which never really worked because it's not a great singalong song. But we got to see the earlier, dopier looking version of the eagle mascot shake its rump.
