What is a good play to see in London this weekend?

I'm going to be in London this weekend, and I would like to see a good play. There’s obviously a lot of great theater in the city, & I’m curious about both The Painkiller (Rob Brydon!), and The Master Builder (Ralph Fiennes!) but I don’t want to be over-awed by celebrity names. What would be a really good theater piece for me to see? Stuff that is experimental or in a basement back room, etc., is all just fine. Thanks!

Depends a bit what you're in the mood for! Here are a few different suggestions:

I'm not sure if there are any tickets around at the weekend (and I'm not seeing it til the 23rd so this isn't a personal recommendation as such ) but Ma Rainey's Black Bottom at the National is meant to be outstanding.

Chris Goode is amazing and his new show Every One is on at Battersea Arts Centre (they've also got a thing about Syrian activists on which looks good. You can usually manage to see a couple of things there in an evening if you time it right, plus you can help them rebuild after a massive fire by buying tickets. And the floor to the main building is covered in BEES).

Camden People's Theatre is in the middle of their SPRINT festival which is all about new and emerging artists so have lots of different things on.

TKTS offers discount tickets to that day's shows. TKTS is the only theatre ticket booth run by the Society of London Theatre, not only providing a central box office for all the theatres in London but also offering amazing discount theatre tickets to a huge number of London shows.

You can only buy tickets from TKTS in person, we don’t sell tickets online or by phone. We believe our personal service (and, of course, our brilliant bargains) make it worth the trip to Leicester Square to buy from the booth that’s been helping theatre fans get the best deals since 1980.

In the Heights - the first musical by Lin Manuel Miranda - is still playing there. I don't know know anything about that production, but I'm sure you could find reviews,

Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. No question.
