Simple online calorie diary that let's me just add numbers?

I'd like an online calorie diary that is simple, let's me just add the calorie numbers that I already know for a meal instead of making me search for each item. And then keep track of how I am meeting pre-determined goals.

I've looked at many calorie counters or diaries and they all make me search for each and every food I eat at a meal. I just want to add the calorie count I already know is in the meal. Some will let you add the calorie count manually but only after about five steps. (go to diary from front page 1. add food 2. add manually? - yes 3. breakfast lunch or dinner? etc.) For each meal. If I have 3 things for lunch and I know the calorie total I want to just enter that amount in one step. On the front page. But have it keep track of how many calories I have used out of an amount I have pre-determined.

I'd like a website because it is always on and I turn my phone off and on all day. Don't want to have to turn my phone on to add a meal.

Does this website exist?

Maybe you could do this in a spreadsheet you host on GoogleDocs where each column is a day and you add items throughout the day.

I thought about this about 2 years ago. I (an extremely experienced computer programmer/user) decided it was about impossible. So I used a different measurement.

I tracked food volume rather than calories. That is, one pint (about 1 pound) was about the same as any other pint. True? No, False? Not really. Two pounds of lettuce are not the same as two pounds of butter, but, if you are trying to lose weight, two pounds of lettuce (a whole head?) is not really a great choice.

So I basically ate 1.5 pounds (=1.5 pints) of food per day (with no juice/soda/dissolved sugar) for ten months. And I lost 100 pounds or so. No breakfast, 1/2 sandwich for lunch, small but pretty normal dinner. Snacks were low-cal: pckles, miso soup, kimchi, etc--no happy greasies( chips, etc). I lost 10/lbs per month. After 10 months, I reached my high school weight, and have maintained it at about 2 pints/day average. And, after a year, still weigh myselft every damn day.

See My diet

It was remarkably effortless. Not totally effortless. But remarkably.

Spreadsheet seems like the best option in your case, unless you really need some sophisticated query support.

I track plain old calories in LoseIt by creating a custom food just called "50 calories" and assigning it a calorie count of 50 calories and if I eat something that I know is 250 calories I give myself 5 servings of "50 calories."

I was on a low fat diet so I tracked grams of fat rather than calories. I didn't track them; I had targets, say 35 for the whole day broken down to about 7 for breakfast, 7 for lunch, 15 for dinner, the rest for snacks and for when I exceeded my target.

If I was over for a day, I didn't worry about it, just tried to get back on target the next day.

My Fitness Pal has that feature, which is really easy to use. It also has the option of searching/storing items and recipes.

I do that in My Fitness pal from time to time. There's an "Add Calories" button.

Response by poster: I didn't see what I wanted in these answers (My Fitness Pal made me go through at least 3 steps and the last one made me look at animated loading graphics while I waited for it to register 50 calories). So I gave the app store one more try searching just the word "calorie". One came up that is perfect - Fast Calorie Counter. I should have searched for fast instead of easy or simple. Thanks to everyone for helping me with this!
