Picture Book ID question! Girl shrinks, plays in dinner...
November 25, 2015 4:36 PM

When I was very young I would check a picture book out from the library; very vivid memory and can't for the life of me find it! Probably published in the '70s, it was at my public library in California in the mid-'80s. Details inside...

Can't remember the author. It's wordless, so there's no keywords or character names to search by... I can't even figure out how to search for it!

It's a wordless picture book about a little girl who shrinks down and plays in her dinner - I have a very strong memory of a spread where she's playing in her mashed potatoes and peas. The drawings were all in pencil, and very detailed (somewhat reminiscent of Chris Van Aalsburg, detail and realism). I'd love to get a copy of this.

Suggest you phone the library. It may still be on the shelves. The children's librarians may remember it.

Is it Hi Fly, by Pat Ross? "A little girl sees her home from a new point of view when she shrinks and joins a fly in numerous and dangerous household adventures." The cover looks like a pencil drawing, at least.
