Long-sleeved shirts for long-armed ladies
October 24, 2015 12:18 PM

Winter is coming! I am looking for pretty, business-casual-ish, long-sleeved shirts to wear under cardigans. Where do I buy these, especially as a 6-foot-tall woman?

I'm basically looking for pretty knit shirts with moderate embellishment/pleats around the neckline. I've looked online at Eddie Bauer/Banana Republic/Gap/Loft size talls, and all their shirts are so plain - I'm looking for something fancier than slub knit or henleys. I already own some Lands End shirts but am not a fan of old lady flower/plaid designs. I love Boden dresses, but they don't sell size tall shirts.

Am I missing a store that sells these? I'm willing to buy the perfect shirt in multiple colors, if only I could find it. In the past I've settled for 3/4 length sleeves, but this year I want warm forearms.

Or do I just buy the plain shirts and wear fancy scarves?

I'm the same height, and I've had good luck with Long Tall Sally.

Would you like something like this? or this?

It doesn't look like either of these are sized Tall, just trying to get a sense of your style.

As an example, this one of my favorite shirts. If I could buy them in multiple colors, I would be all set.

I don't currently see anything at Boden but that's my go-to for t-shirt/knit tops that are a slight bit different. They do have longs and I also need those for sleeve length. I like them because they have fun patterns.

JCrew has tall sizing online! And there's usually a sale online, so def worth looking into.

J.Jill has tall sized tops. This or this might work.

The Limited recently released a line for tall women (hooray!), so you may be able to find something there too. Ann Taylor also has a line for tall ladies, if you haven't tried there yet.

Although I'm not sure if they have much in the way of knits, I'll also second J. Crew. I've had a lot of luck with tall sizes in their dressier, work-appropriate stuff-- silk blouses, etc.

Good luck!
