What record album did my parents listen to every night?

When I was very young I slept next to my parents' room. Every night they listened to an album of Gospel music. It was an Englishman with a piano. He would tell the story of an old hymn and then sing it. I seem to remember "It Is Well" and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus." It's possible the singer was someone who traveled between churches in the 1970s?

Turns out it was a Scotsman with an orchestra. Beginning at 22:30 is the section they replayed over and over following some periods of great family difficulty.
