emo hip hop song
December 1, 2005 3:29 PM

I heard this great hip hop song on some college radio station while driving through Des Moines, IA. The song featured emo bands in the lyrics. For example, I think the first line was, "I took a death cab to see my cutie". Other bands listed in the lyrics were Sunny Day, Burning Airlines, My Chemical Romance, etc. It kinda sounded like Blackalicious, but I don't think it was them. Any idea who did it and where I can get it? Thanks.

If you don't mind my intrusion, can I ask what station you were listening to? My bets are on 88.1, but they don't play a lot of hip hop anymore.

Sweet, thanks milkrate.

Yep, 88.1. It's a nice station to break up the country and western stations from Mpls to KC.

It's worth noting that that song mentions the following bands: Death Cab for Cutie (of course), Bright Eyes, My Chemical Romance, Jimmy Eat World, the Postal Service, At the Drive-In, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, Jets to Brazil, Hot Water Music, (And You Will Know Us) By The Trail Of Dead, Story of the Year… (and probably others I missed) and it’s just two minutes long...

Are you sure you're not talking about 88.5, KURE?

Ah, I guess there is an 88.1 in Des Moines.
