Suggestions for career counselors specializing helping professionals with advanced degrees set off on the right path. We live in San Francisco, obviously a city with a lot of options but also a lot very bright people competing for interesting opportunities?

My wife has recently graduated with a PhD in Art History, with a focus on contemporary art (a further speciality in South East Asian performance art) and design, and decided that she wants to explore career paths outside of academia.

She is a Fulbright scholar and an excellent people person with a broad set of an interests and skills (lifestyle, design, travel, fashion, editorial, curation) and is hoping to find a career counselor or recruiter to explore the world of options, job sectors, organizations, companies, and positions outside of academia.

Well, my sister lives in the Bay Area and does this kind of personal coaching: http://lifeevolutions.org/

I'm not sure if this sort of thing is ok, but it's hard to answer this question without posting what amounts to an ad for a particular provider.

Friends speak very highly of the free and intensive help given at JVS in downtown SF.
