Book recommendation filter: goats!

I need book recommendations --- specifically, recommendations for books about goats, suitable for an indulgent aunt to give to a 7-year-old who adores them. That's it, that's all there is: kids' books about goats..... she also adores chickens, but I think I've got that one covered. Thanks in advance!

Best answer: Oddly enough, as a child, two of my very favorite books were goat-themed: The Goat in the Rug and Gregory, the Terrible Eater. On the weightier side, you might check out Beatrice's Goat (h/t Heifer International).

And if I may be so bold as to make one additional chicken-related suggestion: Tough Chicks is awesome, especially for young girls.

Best answer: King Puck is pretty cute.

If you really want to be indulgent, add a goat puppet!

A wayward goat is the catalyst for Betsy, Tacy and Tib making a new friend in Betsy and Tacy Go Over the Big Hill.

There are some cute versions of the Billy Goats Gruff! Heifer International has a book about a little girl who gets a goat and can go to school, and I always loved The Little Goat (and all accompanying The Little Farm Animal books).

Sylvester and the magic pebble is charming but maybe on the young age.

I will also say that I deeply enjoy my Goats in Trees calendar.

Best answer: There are some pretty great goat-, chicken-, and other-farm-animal-related hijinx in George's Marvelous Medicine, which was one of my favorites at that age.

I <3 Gregory the Terrible Eater and am pleased others know it as so many don't.
Three Billy Goats Gruff? No link as there are so many versions

G'dee is about a pet goat sent to the children of a Jewish family. Written from his point of view, it covers all the Jewish holidays.

I didn't know that Jews colored eggs for Lag B'omer until I read it; my synagogue didn't celebrate the holiday.

Best answer: G is for Goat by Patricia Polacco

Letter by letter, meet cart-pulling goats; clothes-munching goats; head-butting, hill-climbing, tail-wagging goats! Cats, chicks, dogs, and bunnies play along with these friendly goats, joining in the fun. From A is for Apple to Z is for Zoe, these rascally animals just won’t stop until they’ve romped through the whole alphabet.

Thunder Cake by the same author includes goats in the illustrations.

Response by poster: How in the world did I manage to miss Heidi?!? Must be gettin' old..... Thanks all, this should add to my little goat-lover's library! (And ChuraChura: I'll save the goat calendar for next year --- I got her a 'chickens of the world' for this year!)
