Spectator route for cyclists at the SF Marathon?

Is there a route alongside the San Francisco marathon I could take that would allow me to get back to the designated viewing locations? Bikes are not allowed in the race of course, but I'd like to know if anyone else has tried to follow the race and support a participant by riding ahead and cheering them on at each viewing location.

I also understand there is a spectator bus that does exactly this, but I'd rather not take the spectator bus.

I wanted to do this a few days back at Boston, but the more I looked into it, the less it looked like it would have worked for my situation. But it's still on my possible list for a future one.

I'd try runnersworld.com, slowtwitch.com, or even the event website forums (if they exist). Good luck!
