Last-minute Maui Windsurfing?
April 18, 2015 12:10 PM
I have a few days left here and have not planned ahead at all. I'd love to make it out somewhere though. My rental car can't carry gear, so I need a windsurfing rental shop close enough to a launch point on a good beach that I can carry the board and sail over. It seems like this shouldn't be that hard to find but Google is failing me.
If it helps at all, I'm not a brilliantly amazing windsurfer but I've been going out for years and feel pretty confident with the level of wind I'm seeing out there. I just can't find where to go and could use some guidance from someone who knows Maui. Any tips appreciated!!

Thanks entropyiswinning! That shop is real near Kanaha beach so maybe I'll try that today or tomorrow (since I don't know any better).

Turns out you can actually carry surfboards on the roof of a Mustang with some straps and a pad.

Most windsurfing on Maui happens off the North Shore (the beach behind the airport is the most popular, sorry, I don't know the name). I do see windsurfers off Waipuilani Beach Park in Kihei when there's a south swell.
