super-easy faux cross stitch image generator?

A friend said something hilarious, and I would like to create an image that looks like a cross-stitch of that saying, with different colors, decorative border, etc. I've found things where you could generate a pattern for a true cross-stitch, but they don't really work for this. Anything like this out there?
Best answer: If you have an iDevice, Cross Stitch Maker is a fun little app.

Paint by Numbers Artist is a good PC program that does both paint by numbers and cross stitch. It has a free trial.

This generator worked pretty well. Pick the font and then type the words. On the next page when you choose "create my pattern", check "no grid" and then you can save or screen cap the image shown to you.
