I Am Taggart: A Memoir by Jason Nesmith

Lots of genre TV stars have written memoirs, but do any of them go into detail about life on the convention circuit?

For some reason, I rarely read non-historical autobiographies or memoirs, so please forgive me if I'm overlooking an obvious choice here. I'm looking for memoirs, autobiographies, essays, blog posts, etc. from the perspective of sf convention guests, particularly industry and celebrity guests (e.g. Star Trek/Doctor Who/Star Wars/Buffy/Farscape/whatever actors, editors, writers, costume designers, stunt people, propmakers, whatever). Big-name celebrities not necessary, as long as there's reflection on and stories about being a convention guest.

P. S. I'd strongly prefer written material over documentaries or videos, but maybe this kind of thing is hard to come by. In that case, if you have an interview clip or something to link, I'll take it!

(Context: Research for a fiction project.)

Been a while since I read it, but I recall James Doohan's autobiography having a lot of reflections on the con circuit.

It's been awhile since I read it, but I vaguely think the subject came up in Wil Wheaton's "Just A Geek." I'd check his other writings too just in case.

Bimbos of the Death Sun is fiction but drawn from true experiences with cons. Reportedly it became something that would be given to first time con guests as a warning of what they were getting themselves into.

Author Seanan McGuire has been a congoer, a con runner, an emcee and a guest of honor at SFF type cons. Her livejournal has a very long entry of advice for people attending LA ComiCon. It's light on celebrity sightings, but fills in a lot of background detail.

Response by poster: Thanks, I found Seanan Mcguire's post on SDCC--it's very extensive and useful for new congoers. I've been to a lot of cons and helped run a couple myself, though, so I'm only looking for things written from the perspectives of invited guests, rather than general attendees.

Any more suggestions would be appreciated!
