Restaurant/bar/sightseeing recommendations in Brooklyn NY?

Seeking recommendations for great food, bars, and any must-see sights in Brooklyn, NY. This is for a visit starting tomorrow.

A girlfriend and I are driving up from Baltimore to Brooklyn, and would love some suggestions for where to eat, where to hang out, and what to see. We'll be arriving around 3pm tomorrow (Monday) and are hoping to explore some cool stuff on foot (yes, we'll be bundled up!) tomorrow afternoon/night. Recommendations for some sights to see, a great place to eat dinner and a cool bar to hang at afterward would be great. Also hoping to find a fabulous breakfast spot for Tuesday morning - I'll be in a tattoo appointment for about 9 hours on Tuesday afternoon/evening, so fuel is necessary! Also hoping to find a very casual spot for a late dinner/drinks on Tuesday night. We are returning Wednesday afternoon.

We will be staying at the McCarren Hotel on N. 12th St., and are hoping to be able to leave the car there and just walk or take cabs or whatever. If it's helpful, my friend and I are both in our late 30s, fairly hip (but not hipster) and we love great food - no dietary restrictions - and beer/cocktails, as well as live music, dancing, etc. This is both of our first time in Brooklyn.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Well, that is my neighborhood...

I'm no hipster, interestingly enough, and I don't really drink, but restaurants that I've enjoyed in the area, in no particular order, include:

--El Amacen (Argentinean)
--Sweet Chick (southern cormfort food)
--All's Well (rotating menu)
--Reynard's (rotating menu)

Kinfolk 90 is mixed-use space that is excellent for coffee and captures the Williamsburg vibe quite well. It's also fun for drinks in the evening and tends to feature good music.

Full disclosure that's not my neck of Brooklyn so I don't know it quite as well as some (though if you wanna come down to Crown Heights I could give you the full rundown), but your hotel is right around the corner from Brooklyn Brewery. The do pretty great tours but you need to register in advance.

Also Brooklyn Bowl isn't too far, if you want to either take in a show or just get drunk and go bowling. It's a bowling alley/bar/music venue, and it's always a lot of fun.
