Help Me Take Out Lower Manhattan

Does fabulous take out, more or less within walking distance of Battery Park City, exist?

We're borrowing an apartment in Battery Park City for a few weekdays in late February so my family of lumberjacks and goatherds can absorb some culture. Can you recommend the best take-out or casual dine-in options within, say, a half mile of BPC? Two of us are teenagers, but don't let that stop you. They eat everything this side of balut. Than you!

Are you just talking restaurants? I don't think anyone does take out anymore. It's mostly delivery.

I'm sure that places still do takeout, as I frequently get it.

I can't vouch for all the options, but maybe take a look at Hudson Eats? Oughta be something for everyone. (Mighty Quinn's, yummm.) You could also try Blue Smoke if you're in a barbeque frame of mind.

Every restaurant in New York City delivers. Even a lot of delis and groceries deliver. If there's a place that sells edible things in any capacity within a mile or so of where you're staying, they will be happy to just bring it on over to you. It's probably more worthwhile to note the places that don't deliver. And all of those places will still do takeout, of course.

One issue you may find is that Battery Park is right next to the Financial District, which is mostly offices, and restaurants are relatively sparse. For a larger selection, you'd be wanting to go up closer to SoHo, or over to Chinatown, where there's tons of interesting places for cheap, though they are going to we either long walks, or cab/subway rides.

I've never eaten in Battery Park, so no suggestions there, except that Shake Shack is an NYC chain and has fantastic burgers and ice cream. They certainly do take out, though it might be a bit of a wait.

Pretty much everyone delivers (and take-out, too, it's just uncommon for people to ask for it since delivery is generally easier). Get the Seamless app (or go to seamless.com) and it will give you a list of menus in easy delivery distance - if you're willing to pony up a delivery fee or pay the guy's cabfare, you can widen that window considerably.

Stone Street has some great cafes for lunch - I don't think they are open late for dinner though.

Two chicken-themed suggestions:
Dirty Bird
BonChon (maybe too far to walk, but definitely delivers to BPC)

I used to work in that area and because it's so close to the financial district and the courts it's a weird mix of overpriced low quality food, chains and overpriced French bistro food. Nevertheless there is hope if you walk a bit further. Since you say take-out or casual dine-in, here's my casual dine-in recommendations. (I've decided to interpret casual as we don't have to get dressed up to go here.)

Chinatown is very close by:

Nom Wah Tea Parlor is excellent

I also like Little Green Bo and the Hong Kong Café.

Tribeca is just a short walk north of where you are describing staying:

South's is a bar/pub thing that is delicious in Tribeca. Their burgers are delicious as is all their food, their nachos are for sharing only. One person from every party should always get the daily special.

Bubby's is excellent (American comfort food), but pricey, but also delicious and oh man peanut butter chocolate pie.

Walker's is also good and open late and sometimes has a small acoustic duo. It's right near the ghostbusters garage.

Oh and of course Petrarca is amazing Italian food.

Take-out:
Ruben's Empanadas

Mulberry & Vine
Roti Mediterranean Grill
Tres Carnes
Toloache Taqueria

You're close to Chinatown, but if for some reason you don't want to go up there, Ho Yip is pretty good fast Chinese (but only get the "Chinatown-style" food you have to wait in line for).

Also, seconding the Hudson Eats food court -- I'm a big fan of all the places there, and it's a nice environment (if really busy). Mighty Quinn's is probably my favorite.

Thirding Hudson Eats at Brookfield Place. There are lots of really good options. I work in that office building and eat lunch there just about every day.

You should also take advantage of Seamless delivery - there are hundreds of really great options.

some of the Stone Street ones are open late. The actual Fraunces Taverrn within the museum has some good eats

dining choices down there are relatively slim, but try Harry's for a decent (if pricey) burger and fancy sandwiches, and Adrienne's on Stone St. for good pizza (whole pies only). there's also a new place near the north-west side of Battery Park called Pier A--haven't been yet, but they have oysters, burgers, beer, etc. also nthing Hudson Eats-lots of choices in one place for varied tastes.

I'm late to this party, but I have to put in a plug for Nish Nush. It's about a 15 minute walk from BPC. Delightful falafel, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
