Can I use the XBOX ONE stereo headset for Skype on PC?

There's only one 3.8mm jack that connects the headset to the controller (which received the audio from the XBOX via bluetooth or something similar). Normally, a PC headset with chat would have connectors for both audio out and mic in on the PC. I can't find a definitive answer online anywhere.

If it has a standard 3.5mm plug, and it's of the TRRS type (i.e. looks like this), it may work. It really depends on your computer. A good number of them nowadays do support headsets using that connector - especially Macs and laptops - but the definitive answer would be in the documentation for whatever you've got. Alternatively, you could just plug it in and try it. Audio in these applications tends to be pretty low voltage and all that, so it's pretty unlikely you're gonna break anything by plugging it in. (That said, there is a chance that it won't like that for whatever reason, so try at your own risk.)

Response by poster: Thanks mrg. Yes I think it is a standard 3.5mm (I out 3.8mm by mistake) with three cores. I've ordered one and we'll just have to see I suppose!

i believe this dongle will split it out to the two-plug version you're thinking of
