Migrating my iphone syncing from PC to Mac. Outlook/itunes questions!

I've been syncing my iphone via itunes on my windows laptop for years. I've also used the same itunes install to hold my media library (mounted via a NAS on the wifi router.) I use Outlook to manage contacts. Just got a mac mini to use as a media server. I want to sync through that now. I'm not sure if going through icloud is the right choice. Is it?

I've been syncing my iphone via itunes on my windows laptop for years. I've also used the same itunes install to hold my media library (mounted via a NAS on the wifi router.) I use Outlook to manage contacts and emails because I like having things in a offline for trips and because we use it for my office. We've just installed a mac mini in our house as a media server because my wife hates it when I leave on a trip and take my laptop and itunes library with it, which me she can't serve our videos on apple tv.

To whit: We've setup the mac mini and I'm going to run the itunes backend for our apple tv thru it (using the same NAS on the router.) However, for various reasons, I'd vastly prefer syncing my iphone to it as well. I know I can sync Outlook through icloud from my windows PC but I'm wondering if I'm going to run into any issues with data not syncing fully or if there are other things to watch out for?

Anyone go thru this before? Any advice? Is it better to nuke the phone and resync from scratch?
