online communities about home remodeling - Silicon Valley edition?

Hi folks, I'm contemplating some home remodeling work, and was wondering if any MeFites in the CA south bay area might have experience with this. Specifically I was hoping to find local online communities I can participate in for a few months to gather information and ideas, since I know very little about this whole subject and really need to learn the local resources, prices, experiences etc. Anyone know of any online forums like this or how I could go about finding one? Thanks!

Best answer: I hang out at Home Refurbers. It's a little slow, largely because it's a sister site to LumberJocks and sometimes it's hard to do the "is this home improvement, or woodworking" distinction when we know there's an audience in the one place and less of one in the other.

I'm North Bay, but do get into SF and the South Bay occasionally, have re-plumbed (inspected) and re-wired (two more fixtures and I call for the inspection) and built my own fully permitted workshop with a living roof (yay strawberries!) in the back yard, and am happy to exchange knowledge.
