Help me find an autumn/early spring jacket
September 26, 2014 12:36 PM

The weather is starting to get a bit brisk and, once again, I lament my lack of owning a good fall jacket. A few years ago, I found this zip peacoat-style rain jacket on a bargain website and I LOVE almost everything about it. Unfortunately, I have giant norseman shoulders (44 jacket measurement) so a Banana Republic XL is just a *bit* too tight in the back. It fits perfectly... untilI need to use my arms, that is. I would like to find something in the same vein, if possible.

I am a wool peacoat-wearing fella during the winter and it's a good look for me, hence my excitement when I found a light jacket that looks like a peacoat. I like classic looks.

Mandatory:
1. Side pockets in which I can shove my hands during miserable weather. Or when I'm bored. I've had jackets with no pockets and I've had jackets where the pockets are way too high and boy, did I look awkward in both of them.

2. Waist cut length. I think that a 3/4 length jacket or trench coat would be heavier than I'm looking for.

Would like:
1. Zipper. Not mandatory, but it'd be really nice to have. Bonus points if it's a hidden zipper with buttons as well.

2. Single-Breasted. I'm a heftier guy, I don't need to look more like a barrel than I already do.

Here is one that I found, but it's a little pricey at the moment. I might keep an eye on that one and see if it comes down later in the season.

Thanks! I'll be back next year when I'll need help finding an overcoat! :)

While this wool zipper jacket isn't the most exciting jacket ever, it is a pretty solid staple. Lands End has a good return policy if the fit doesn't work out.
